Board of Directors

Librestream’s Board of Directors includes a group of experienced and talented business leaders who provide ongoing guidance to the Management team. Each individual has first hand experience in launching and growing successful companies.

Dr. Moe Barakat: Moe has over 35 of experience in industry, academia, and government in a variety of leadership positions. He is currently Chairman of InfoMagnetics Technologies Corporation, an engineering technology company. He has also served as CEO and founder of two additional technology companies including Novra Technologies Inc.

James A Richardson, BA: Jim Richardson is a retired Vice President of James Richardson & Sons Limited and the current President and Director of Westmead Limited. A graduate of Queens University, Jim has a broad business background and is a major investor in several technology and oil and gas companies. He is extremely active in the community being Senior Manitoba Director of Ducks Unlimited, Chairman of the Nature Conservancy of Canada (Manitoba Region), a trustee of the Richardson Foundation Inc. and the University of Winnipeg Foundation. He was Chair of Sport for the 1999 Pan American Games, Past President of Big Brothers of Canada, a former Regent of the University of Winnipeg and has served on the boards of numerous other community organizations. Jim is currently on the Board of Directors of several private Canadian companies including Intelligent Hospital Systems, Ki Exploration Inc., Librestream Technologies Inc., PSI Peripheral Solutions Inc., TelPay Incorporated, and Tundra Oil and Gas Ltd.

Ed Richmond: Ed is an experienced business executive with senior leadership experience in new business creation and growth, strategy development, business turnaround, initial public offering, major business negotiations and corporate M&A projects. He is currently President and Chief Operating Officer of IMRIS, an international bio-medical venture company. Ed previously served in a variety of senior roles at Standard Aero Group including positions such as Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development and as Head of the Enterprise Services Division.

Michael Silver: Michael is a partner in Western Glove Works ltd., one of Canada’s largest clothing companies, which has been producing branded and private label denim since 1921. The associated group of companies employs almost 2000 employees and generates annual sales in excess of ½ billion. As president of the company’s largest divisions Silver Jeans, 1921 and Victoria Beckham Denim, Michael has shipped more denim products to the United States than any other jean brand from Canada.

John Proven: John has fifteen years of experience as a senior financial officer and administrator across sectors including public practice accounting, government, and the private sector. He is currently Vice President of Investments at Growthworks, a venture capital management company. John previously held private sector positions such as Controller of Sun Media's Manitoba-based publishing and printing operations as well as government positions such as Treasury Board Analyst with the Province of Manitoba. John is active in the community as a member of the United Way of Winnipeg Campaign Cabinet, a Director of the Associates, I.H. Asper School of Business, a director of the Prairie Theatre Exchange, and co-Chair of St. John Brebeuf School Board.

Kerry Thacher, B.Sc. (Eng.) P. Eng, MBA

Kerry Thacher is a graduate Electrical Engineer and MBA from the University of Manitoba. He is currently CEO and founder of Librestream Technologies Inc.

Prior to founding Librestream, Kerry was Vice President of Symbol Technologies Inc., a New York based global leader in the Enterprise Mobility market. He was responsible for Symbol's Winnipeg operations that developed a variety of mobile computing products that achieved revenues in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Kerry had previously founded and was CEO of AirWire Mobile Technologies, which was acquired by Symbol in 1999. AirWire was involved in the development and manufacturing of hand held devices for the health care marketplace.

Kerry's entrepreneurial career began in 1988, when he co-founded and acted as CEO for Ubitrex Corporation. The company developed a system to automate the capture of clinical data by nursing staff. The company was venture capital backed and was acquired by Continental Healthcare Systems of Overland Park Kansas in 1994. Kerry was responsible for Continental's Canadian operations, until he founded AirWire in 1996.
