TANDBERG and Librestream have announced that the TANDBERG FieldView branded system will be replaced by the equivalent Onsight branded system from Librestream as of July 1, 2010.
Background
As you may be aware, the FieldView camera and system is a “white labeled” version of the Onsight™ mobile collaboration system developed and manufactured by Librestream Technologies. TANDBERG and Librestream have decided that the TANDBERG FieldView version of the product will no longer be available after July 1, 2010. Instead, Onsight mobile devices and software, which are functionally and physically equivalent to the FieldView camera and software, will be offered to FieldView prospects and customers.
The purpose of this document is to provide FieldView customers and TANDBERG partners with the necessary information on how the transition will be implemented. Both TANDBERG and Librestream are committed to providing customers and partners with uninterrupted service as the transition is implemented. In addition, Librestream is committed to the ongoing development and support of Onsight as the leading mobile collaboration system, and both Librestream and TANDBERG will continue to secure full interoperability on video and audio between the TANDBERG total solution and Librestream Onsight portfolio.
Reason for the transition
A Mobile Collaboration system comes with unique challenges related to wireless networks, security, mobility, and overall systems integration needs. In the past three years, since Librestream and TANDBERG started working together, the TANDBERG FieldView / Onsight product line has grown significantly both in terms of breadth and depth. With this growth, both companies have concluded that customers and partners can be best served with dedicated focus and support directly from the manufacturer, Librestream.
Timing of transition
FieldView camera devices will remain available for sale from TANDBERG until June 30, 2010. Customers are free to choose whether they wish to purchase FieldView camera devices from TANDBERG or Onsight devices from Librestream until that date. Commencing July 1, 2010 FieldView devices will no longer be available for purchase. Customers that wish to purchase devices will be directed to Librestream as of that date.
Customers who wish to purchase the FieldView Application from TANDBERG may do so until June 30, 2010. However, customers are encouraged to contact Librestream to receive an upgrade to the latest revision. This update will be provided free-of-charge to all customers with active maintenance contracts, and will carry the Onsight brand. Alternatively, purchases can now be made directly from Librestream. As of July 1, 2010, all FieldView software purchases must be made from Librestream.
Customers wishing to purchase FieldView Enterprise Server and FieldView Management Suite are now asked to contact Librestream to learn about additional software packaging and functionality within the Onsight brand.
What is the difference between FieldView and Onsight?
Onsight Devices are functionally and physically identical to FieldView Devices. Branding and associated labeling are the only differences. End users and IT personnel will see no differences, assuming that both devices have the same software version. The Onsight software also has all the features customers are used to with their TANDBERG FieldView software. Customers that move to the Onsight software may notice additional functionality, as there is a new Onsight software release available.
As noted above, customers can still purchase Fieldview Application software from TANDBERG until June 30, 2010. Librestream will ensure that these customers have access to the most recent Onsight software when they contact Librestream for a maintenance contract.
How will maintenance contracts be handled?
Existing TANDBERG FieldView maintenance contracts will remain in place with no change up until expiry. However, FieldView customers can immediately contact Librestream directly for support and access to maintenance releases.
After January 1, 2010, maintenance contracts for new FieldView purchases or maintenance contract renewals can be purchased directly from Librestream. FieldView camera Products sold between January 1, 2010 and June 30, 2010 will not be offered with maintenance contracts from TANDBERG, only warranty support. Customers and partners are advised to contact Librestream directly for maintenance contracts for these new purchases and for contract renewals.
